Our signature Showcase Debates have earned us a reputation for making events and conferences accessible, incisive and relevant.
Two teams of 3 battle it out in a lively, fast-paced exchange of competing ideas. Clear dividing lines and extensive audience engagement transform bored spectators into engaged participants – a dynamic alternative to the grey of traditional panel discussions.
How it works…
Discovery Call
A consultation call to understand your event, audience and objectives. Afterwards, we will design a unique programme schedule tailored to your needs.
Motion & Speaker Selection
We collaborate to design a debate motion and choose speakers from across your business/industry and our network of students and debaters.
Debate Briefing & Preparation
We coordinate event logistics, brief speakers on the rules and format, and offer thorough guidance and training to help all speakers prepare.
Rehearsal & Event Delivery
We lead a tech-run and speaker rehearsal on-the-day. The debate is chaired and moderated by a senior member of the Debate Mate team.
Evaluation & Follow Up
We lead a thorough monitoring and evaluation, with a post-programme debrief to share feedback. If suitable, we can also share visual and social media from the event.

These small group follow-up sessions provide a safe and supportive space for teams and organisations to discuss potentially contentious issues.
They give all attendees a chance to voice their perspective – especially beneficial for delegates who aren’t comfortable volunteering a question or opinion in an auditorium setting.
They also allow us to interrogate related themes that emerge during the debate, ensuring the issues that matter most to attendees are given sufficient airtime.

This follow-up session will up-skill participants in the core principles of effective communication – clear structure, persuasive argumentation, and constructive challenging.
Participants are equipped with bite-sized, high-impact techniques that they can start using in their daily roles immediately.
These sessions create an inclusive forum for participants to discuss best practice, practice new techniques, receive feedback, and develop their own authentic communication style.

These small-group discussions, led by Debate Mate’s expert facilitators, provide space for organisations and teams to reflect on the content of the day.
Participants collaborate to develop tangible solutions to the problems discussed, outline targets or action points, and plan for follow ups or next steps.
This interactive sessions ensure learning and insights from the event aren’t lost, but are instead converted in concrete action.
